How
can the ease of virtual design be translated easily and cheaply into
real objects?
CAD packages and computational modeling are opening up exciting avenues to designers, but the tools to create these virtual objects are still expensive to use. Post-Industrial Designers will address this gap with new techniques for manufacture. This steel lamp was welded up from sheets cut by hand with a plasma torch using templates generated in Lamina, a program which can unfold 3D model surfaces into flat sheets.
